Perkins Parks and Recreation is committed to developing quality educational and recreational programming opportunities, as well as providing citywide special events. We have a long history of involving the private sector in supporting these event through public and private partnerships.
Some of our events include:
- Annual Art Mural Project- The City of Perkins Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring the first-ever mural contest! Children through grade 5 will be allowed to submit artwork with subject matter of sports or recreation. Artwork will be judged based on adherence to subject matter and relativity. We encourage children to portray a positive message because the winning art will be painted on a mural on one of the buildings located at Either Dickson or Peters Park. Artwork can be submitted from any child currently residing within the Perkins-Tyron School district, grades Pre-K through 5th Grade until January 31st, 2017. One submission per child. - Pup-A-Palooza Hot Dog Supper- This event is sponsored by the Perkins Animal Shelter and Parks and Recreation Department. We will be hosting a hot dog supper for a fundraiser to raise money for the Parks and Recreation Department. The hot dog supper will take place on June 8th, 2017 from 5pm-8pm in the Oklahoma Territorial Plaza.
- Santa's Village- December 2017, the Park and Recreation Department will transform a park into Santa's village with his workshop. Santa will make a week long appearance to take pictures with the children.
- Movie in the Park- August 18th from 7pm to 11pm. The Parks and Rec Department will be hosting a movie in the Territorial Plaza. There will also be a Rural Health Fair from 7pm-9pm. The movie will start at Sundown. Admission is free.
