Pet Adoptions
To see the most up to date information about our available dogs, please go to the Perkins Animal Shelter's Facebook Page.
We've been told that the Perkins Animal Shelter has the best dogs available for adoption! We often have dogs of all sizes, ages, genders, and breeds, including both purebreds and mixed breeds. When you come visit our shelter, we will help match you with a dog whose personality will be the perfect match for your family. Adoption fees start at $50.00 and includes spay or neuter, deworming, vaccinations, and heartworm testing.
Directions to the Shelter
From the North: Go south on Highway 177 through town. Turn right on Knipe and go 3/4 mile west.
From the South: On the south edge of town, turn left on Knipe and go 3/4 mile west.
The shelter is just past the cemetery on the north side of the road. It sits on the corner of W. Knipe and E. Industrial.
Where can I adopt a cat or kitten?
The City of Perkins does not currently have the ability to house cats in its shelter. We recommend that you check with Stillwater Animal Welfare, the Humane Society of Stillwater, and Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue in Stillwater if you are looking to adopt a cat or kitten.
Feral or Unowned Cats
Operation Catnip Stillwater provides free Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR) services for feral and unowned cats in Stillwater and surrounding communities. For more information regarding TNR and its benefits, visit the Operation Catnip Stillwater website.
Rescue Transfers
Whenever we have a dog that may need more advanced medical or behavioral care than we can provide or if our shelter is nearing full capacity, we call upon rescues to transfer these dogs. By transferring to other rescues with more resources, we have been able to greatly lower our euthanasia rate. We are also very proud to say that we have been able to save several dogs that would have been euthanized due to major medical issues.
